Day 1 Depart USA
Board your overnight flight to Salzburg, Austria.

Day 2 Arrive Salzburg
Welcome to Salzburg, the beautiful Austrian city made famous by Mozart and The Sound of Music. Your hotel is an 800 year old little Palais, the Hotel Elefant, set in the heart of the Old Town on a pedestrian shopping street.

Day 3 Salzburg/Marionetten Theater
Meet your local guide for walking sightseeing of Salzburg. See the 17th century Residenz Palace, the Salzbach River, Glockenspiel Tower and Schloss Mirabell. Walk through the Old Town, a totally charming medieval setting of narrow and winding streets, where you will visit the birthplace of the most famous son of Salzburg -- Mozart. Your afternoon is free. This evening, attend a performance at the Salzburger Marionetten Theater.

Day 4 Innsbruck/Bavaria
Drive through Alpine meadows to the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. Surrounded by steep mountains, the setting of Innsbruck is spectacular and the old city remains much as it was 400 years ago. See the Golden Roof of the Emperor Maximilian balcony. Then enter Germany to stay two nights at the fine Bavarian style Alpenhof Hotel in Murnau, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and your location for the Oberammergau Passion Play.

Day 5 Oberammergau Passion Play
It is a short jaunt to Oberammergau where your morning is free to wander about the town, check in a few of woodcarver shops and visit the town museum. Then attend the world famous Passion Play, with your seats in the best category. The townspeople of Oberammergau have been performing the Play for 375 years. The performance begins in the afternoon, there is a break for dinner and the Play concludes in the evening. You will not forget this moving experience.

Day 6 Neuschwanstein Castle/Munich
Morning drive to nearby Hohenschwangau and visit Neuschwanstein Castle, most famous of the castles built by King Ludwig. Begun in 1869, the castle is the embodiment of 19th century romanticism, often called the Cinderella castle. Then transfer to Munich, where gemutlichkeit is the prevailing good feeling. The September 25 tour visits the Munich Oktoberfest grounds and has dinner. It is the 200th anniversary of this famous festival.

Day 7 Munich
Explore vibrant Munich this morning. See the lovely Karolinenplatz and visit either the Alte or Neue Pinakothek, foremost German galleries featuring Master Paintings up to the Art Nouveau. Walk to the Marienplatz and see the Rathaus with its glockenspiel. The afternoon is free to enjoy the city on your own. Reminisce with fellow travelers this evening at the farewell dinner.

Day 8 Return home
Your tour ends this morning after breakfast. Auf Wiedersehen!
