Day 1: Depart USA
Depart on your overnight flights to Vienna, Austria.

Day 2: Arrive Vienna
Welcome to Vienna, the refind Austrian capital on the Danube River, known for its coffeehouses, the Hofburg, and the waltz. Your elegant Viennese hotel is set in the very heart of the city, on the pedestrian Karntnerstrasse.

Day 3: Hofburg Palace/Vienna
Walking is the best way to experience Vienna. Visit the symmbol of the city, St. Stephens Cathedral, and then the Hofburg Palace, the Imperial Palace of the Habsburg dynasty. See the Hapsburg crown jewels in the Treasury. When in Vienna, the white Lipizzaner horses of the Spanish Riding School are stabled at the Hofburg. Your afternoon is free and you are in the heart of the city. Enjoy a Viennese dinner out on the town. 

Day 4: Train to Salzburg
Sit back, relax and admire the green hillsides and charming small towns as you travel by train through the Austrian countryside to Salzburg. On the guided tour of Salzburg this afternoon, see the 17th century Residenz Palace, the Glockenspiel Tower and Schloss Mirabell. Walk through the Old Town, a totally charming medieval setting of narrow and winding streets, where you will visit the birthplace of Mozart, most famous son of the city of Salzburg. This evening, attend a performance at the Salzburger Marionetten Theater. 

Day 5: Salzkammergut/Free time Salzburg
Crystal lakes, Alpine peaks and meadows and charming villages surround you on the drive through the Salzkammergut, made famous by The Sound Of Music von Trapp family. See one of the finest examples of Gothic wood carving, an altarpiece from the 15th century in St. Wolfgang. The afternoon is free to enjoy the charming Old Town of Salzburg on your own. 

Day 6: Innsbruck/Bavaria/Murnau
Drive through Alpine meadows to the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. Surrounded by steep mountains, the setting of Innsbruck is spectacular and the old city remains much as it was 400 years ago. See the Golden Roof of the famous balcony of Emperor Maximilian. Then enter German Bavaria to stay two nights at the fine Alpenhof Hotel in Murnau, your location for the Oberammergau Passion Play program. 

Day 7: Oberammergau Passion Play
It is a short jaunt to Oberammergau where your morning is free to wander about the town, check in a few of woodcarver shops and visit the town museum. Then attend the world famous Passion Play. The townspeople of Oberammergau have been performing the Play for 375 years. The performance begins in the afternoon, there is a break for dinner and the Play concludes in the evening. You will not forget this moving experience.

Day 8: Munich
Morning drive to Munich, where gemutlichkeit is the prevailing good feeling. The September 26 tour visits the Munich Oktoberfest grounds and has dinner. The year 2010 is the 200th anniversary of this famous festival. 

Day 9: Munich/Free time
Explore vibrant Munich this morning. See the lovely Karolinenplatz and the Neue Pinakothek, the foremost German gallery featuring 19th century masters and Art Nouveau. Walk to the Marienplatz and see the Rathaus with its glockenspiel. The afternoon is free to enjoy the city on your own. Reminisce with fellow travelers this evening at the farewell dinner.

Day 10: Return home
Your tour ends this morning after breakfast. Auf Wiedersehen!
