European Escapade plus Oberammergau 2010

Day 1 - Depart USA
Overnight flight to London.

Day 2 - Arrive London (2 nights)
Time to relax and unwind. 

Day 3 - London sightseeing and at leisure
Our guided tour features the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. This afternoon we have time at leisure. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 4 - London – Bruges – Amsterdam (2 nights)
Greetings from our Tour Director! We cross the English Channel to Calais, then on to Amsterdam via Bruges. Tonight we enjoy a Welcome Drink before a canal boat cruise. (Continental breakfast)

Day 5 - Amsterdam orientation and excursion to Volendam
First we learn about polishing diamonds before driving on to Volendam to learn about cheese and clogs and discover a Hidden Treasure! (Buffet breakfast)

Day 6 - Amsterdam – Rhine Cruise – Frankfurt
First to Cologne to see the gothic cathedral before continuing to Boppard to take a scenic Rhine cruise. Then on to our hotel for the night. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7 - Frankfurt – Rhine Falls – Lucerne (2 nights)
We drive south along the Rhine Valley and on to the picturesque Black Forest to the Swiss border, stopping at the mighty Rhine Falls en route to lakeside Lucerne. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 8 - Lucerne – Innsbruck – Oberammergau
We drive north from Innsbruck to Bavaria in Germany and the beautiful village of Oberammergau, where we have dinner in our hotel tonight. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 9 - Passion Play performance
After breakfast, there is time at leisure followed by lunch at a local restaurant. The Passion Play begins at 2.30pm and runs until 5pm when there is a dinner break. The play resumes at 8pm and finishes at 10.30pm when you are transferred back to your hotel accommodation. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 10 - Oberammergau – Vienna
After breakfast we rejoin our Trafalgar touring coach and resume our regular itinerary as we continue to Vienna via Salzburg. (Buffet breakfast) 

Day 11 - Vienna sightseeing and at leisure
We see the State Opera House and the impressive Parliament and enjoy a walking tour of the oldest part of the city. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 12 - Vienna – Venice (2 nights)
Today’s journey takes us across the Alps to the Semmering Pass and on to the Austrian Lake District and Italy’s border. From here a dramatic scenic drive brings us to magical Venice. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner) 

Day 13 - Venice sightseeing and at leisure
We enjoy a canal cruise to St. Mark's Square viewing the Bridge of Sighs and Doge’s Palace. After a visit to a glass-blowing factory, time at leisure. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 14 - Venice – Rome (2 nights)
We cross the Apennine Mountains passing Umbrian hilltop towns to Rome. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 15 - Rome sightseeing and at leisure
Sightseeing includes a guided visit of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Colosseum. Then time at leisure. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 16 - Rome – Florence
We drive north to Tuscany and Florence where our guided walking tour includes the Cathedral, baptistery and a Hidden Treasure! Then time to shop for leather and gold. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner) 

Day 17 - Florence – Pisa – Monaco (2 nights)
First we see Pisa's Leaning Tower, then follow the coastline to the Principality of Monaco, where we enjoy a Highlight Dinner tonight. (Buffet breakfast / Highlight dinner)

Day 18 - St. Paul de Vence and Perfumery excursion
We enjoy an excursion to St. Paul de Vence and the Fragonard Perfumery. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 19 - Nice – Avignon – Lyon
We travel to Avignon and see the broken bridge before we drive on to Lyon. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 20 - Lyon – Beaune – Paris (2 nights)
First, we stop at medieval Beaune. Then we drive past the Burgundy vineyards to the glittering city of Paris. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 21 - Paris sightseeing and at leisure
Our guided tour features the Place de la Concorde, the Champs Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, which we ascend to the second level by elevator to enjoy views of Notre Dame Cathedral on the Île de la Cité. Tonight, we enjoy a Farewell Dinner together. (Buffet breakfast / Farewell dinner)

Day 22 - Paris – USA
Bid farewell this morning as our European tour comes to an end. (Buffet breakfast)

The quaint European village of Oberammergau is world famous for the spectacular Passion Play performed by its residents just once every decade. Keeping a pledge made nearly 400 years ago, this reenactment of the crucifixion of Christ preserves the health and well-being of its residents to this day.
